Between 2020 and 2023, Barbara Berends designed the communal spaces for The Collection, a chain of luxurious office locations housed in monumental, historic properties on the canals of Amsterdam.
Briefed to work within a black and white palette and to bring the elegance and atmosphere of a high-end hotel into a workplace setting, she developed a signature look that connects all ten locations while giving each one an individual identity, shaped by its own architectural character.
Iconic design pieces sit alongside hand-selected vintage finds sourced from around the world.
In collaboration with art gallery Vriend van Bavink, Barbara laid the foundation of an art collection built for both beauty and long-term value, with works by Anouk Griffioen, Nick Christensen and others. Custom furniture and light fixtures, designed and produced under her supervision, complete each interior.
