With a background that spans interior architecture, product design and fashion, never quite settling, always evolving, she has developed an eye that is at once disciplined and idiosyncratic.
Her work includes editorials for AD Magazine and Manera Benelux, campaigns for Paco Rabanne, Arper, Danskina and Fest Amsterdam and collaborations with photographers Desirée Dolron, Kasia Gatkowska and Scheltens & Abbenes, including work for Louis Vuitton. She has designed the interiors for The Collection Inc. Amsterdam and several residential and hospitality projects.
She is also the founder of Uncommissioned, a platform for outstanding creatives to show a different side to their talent, by creating a piece of work without a brief.
Where others arrange, Barbara composes. Furniture and objects become compositional elements that support image and narrative; environments are intentional, quietly powerful, and built with a nuanced understanding of materials, colour and texture.
She is not interested in luxury for its own sake. She is interested in the refinement of the false note, the handmade piece, the thrift shop find placed next to the museum-quality object. In the thing that keeps a room, or an image, alive.
